Helllooooo everyone!
This week had a lot of ups and downs… And in about an hour and a half we are going to hike a volcano, so my email will be pretty short this week…
Anyway on Tuesday about all of our appointments fell and one of the people had some sheep so we goofed around with them for a bit haha… that was fun…
Wednesday: Wednesday morning we had an appointment with this family we have been working with who have been doing everything they have been supposed to. they are attending church every week, reading, praying, and asking questions. So we went in with thinking that we could put a baptismal date with them because they are basically golden. We asked the dad, Luis, the whole baptismal invitation and recommended a date for October 19th to be safe. He said they just were not prepared and they needed more time to read and study. anyway this week we should be able to put a date because they are so close!
Thursday. My day started at 5 in the morning waking up to my companion puking his guts out in the bathroom. He was so sick for the whole morning and just looked absolutely miserable. Safe to say we stayed inside most of the day. However at about 12ish he took a nap while I cleaned the whole house. When he woke up he felt completely fine. This really was a miracle because we had an appointment with, Marco who has a baptism date for this Saturday. That appointment went amazing! I love Marco; he is awesome! After the appointment, Elder Ahrens felt pretty sick again, so we headed back.
Friday: Friday we had an appointment with Rosa and Jose. ( they had a baptism date for this last Saturday, the 14th.) Anyway we just prepped them and made sure the baptism clothes fit. Then I started feeling sick that day, but I kinda just pushed through it haha.
Saturday: Saturday was the big day!! My first baptisms!! I was so excited! So in the morning we went early to the church to fill up the font then headed back home and went to this awesome service project! The wards down here are awesome btw-about 50 people went to this service project from our ward. In the project we shoveled rock and put it into the concrete mixture to build this house! (everything is made of concrete here). That lasted a few hours and it was actually really fun with all the members. And they fed us some chicken foot soup and fried pig skin after! mmmm! Then we headed back, showered and got ready for the baptism. we got to the church and waited, and waited, and waited. After searching around, My comp and a zone leader found Jose at his house. No one knew where Rosa was, so we had to call off the baptism… That was rough.. The baptism is now scheduled for this Saturday, and we are going to drag them to the church!
Sunday: We had 7 investigators go to church. That was pretty good! After church we had our investigator, Marco, do his Baptism Interview with the zone leaders! He passed and he is super solid! He also wanted me to baptize him!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m actually gonna get to baptize someone this next week! That will be a pretty awesome birthday present!!!! We have Rosa, Jose, Marco, then the Hermanas have two baptisms, and the zone leaders have another! We will in total have 6 baptisms and, its safe to say it’ll be a busy Saturday haha! After all that and lunch, we headed to Otavalo for a big zone conference with president Chacon and his wife. They talked about using the ward mission leaders.
This week had some good, some bad, and some in between! It just goes to show that there is always light at the tunnel, so long as you stay obedient, and push harder and harder!
i love all of you thank you for all of the support!
Elder Curtis
